RAF Wittering bomb squad called to school after pupil brings in projectile
Bomb disposal officers from RAF Wittering were called to a school after a pupil brought back a Second World War bomb from a trip to the beach.
Members of 5131 Bomb Disposal Sqaudron were called to the Roseberry Centre in King’s Lynn on Wednesday afternoon after the 25lb projectile was discovered. An inquisitive boy had dug up the bomb during a trip to the beach and brought it back to the school.
Between 20 and 25 pupils, aged between five and 16, were evacuated. The bomb was destroyed during a controlled explosion at Hunstanton beach.
