Peterborough gets into the World Cup spirit with 'It's Coming Home' mural

A brand new mural celebrating England’s continued quest to life the World Cup trophy has been completed in Peterborough city centre.

Barriers in front of the Hilton Hotel development have long been in place along the banks of the River Nene. Often they have been full to graffiti but a section has now been given over to a new mural as the World Cup fever continues to grow in the city.

Ahead of England’s World Cup semi-final against Argentina on Wednesday night (July 15), well-known street artist Nathan Murdoch has transformed a section of barrier, close to the steps leading up to Town Bridge, into a show of support for Thomas Tuchel’s side.

The now immortal words of It’s Coming Home- taken from the ‘Three Lions’ song by Frank Skinner, David Baddiel and The Lightning Seeds- an anthem of any major tournament England are playing in- are now on display in the city centre for all to see.

It is not Nathan’s first World Cup-inspired mural after Harry Kane painting captain Harry Kane on a garage block to be seen by all drivers on the A47 between Eye and Thorney.

The search for a home for Jude Bellingham ahead of the semi-final is still on though so expect to see him around soon!
