The farm shop has attracted rave reviews since opening in 2021

April is an important time for the many farms surrounding Peterborough, with farmers now concentrating on a host of tasks in preparation for the busy summer months.

In an attempt to diversify their revenue streams in recent years, a growing number of farmers have taken the decision to open farm shops on their land.

The recent farm shop boom - inspired in-part by Jeremy Clarkson’s Amazon series - has coincided with a post-pandemic healthy living trend.

Much of the produce sold in farm shops can be traced directly back to source, meaning consumers know exactly where it’s come from.

It’s often the case that farm shops sell produce grown in fields a stone’s throw away, only increasing its freshness and quality.

Peterborough is surrounded by miles upon miles of rich countryside, so it’s perhaps unsurprising that quite a few farm shops are just a short drive from the city.

Many farm shops even have their own cafes where customers can relax with a homemade drink and light bite after shopping.

Moor Farm Shop is the brainchild of Judith Jacobs, a third-generation farmer who started working on her new venture during the first lockdown in 2020.

With an on-site butchers, deli and tearoom, the shop sources much of its produce from the nearby Moor Farm, located just a few hundred yards away.

The farm shop works with a range of local suppliers to offer a range of other products, including frozen bakery items, fish and fresh-cut flowers.

Serving a wide range of hot and cold dishes, the farm shop’s on-site tearoom is ideal for relaxing after shopping.

The farm shop, which boasts an impressive average 4.7/5 Google rating, is open every day of the week other than Mondays.
