Watch as police car is rammed after 100mph chase of disqualified driver on rural roads in Peterborough

A police car was rammed after a 100 mph plus night-time pursuit of a disqualified driver along rural roads in Peterborough.

Dashcam footage of the 15-minute high speed shows the chase began near the A605 bypass and continued on to the A1139 at Hampton and he Fletton Parkway where the disqualified driver, Alfred Stanley (45), sped off the wrong way around the roundabout and on to the Nene Parkway near Peterborough City Hospital.

Police continued to give chase along the Soke Parkway onto the Bourges Boulevard and to the northbound carriageway of the A15 before Stanley ignored red traffic lights on Lincoln Road where his vehicle stopped and reversed into the pursuing police car.

A court heard that Stanley had made off after seeing a police patrol car as he drove out of a building site in Ugg Mere Court Road, Ramsey Heights, near Ramsey, in the early hours of October 5.

He drove at speeds of 110mph on rural roads, swerved in front of cars, drove through red lights, and went the wrong way round a roundabout.

After 15 minutes, he finally came to a stop and reversed into the police car in Lincoln Road, Werrington, Peterborough.

Checks on police systems revealed he had been disqualified from driving until 22 October after he accrued 21 points on his licence. His vehicle was also uninsured.

Stanley, of Sunnymead, Werrington, Peterborough, appeared at Peterborough Crown Court on November 7 where he admitted dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, damaging property, and failing to comply with a serious crime prevention order – after he was found in possession of bolt croppers.

He was jailed for 14 months and handed a 45-month driving ban.

DC Callum Fullwood, who investigated, said: “Stanley’s driving was extremely dangerous, and not to stop for police was an act of stupidity that could have resulted in a serious collision.”
