Volunteers sought to help improve patients and visitors experiences at Peterborough City Hospital

Peterborough City Hospital is seeking volunteers to help ensure it provides the ‘best possible’ experience for patients and visitors.

The Bretton-based hospital wants volunteers to become Patient Assessors to consider improvements across a range of areas.

The role will involve working with staff and other members of the community to assess areas that include cleanliness, food and catering services, privacy and dignity, building maintenance, accessibility and support for people living with dementia or disabilities.

The appeal comes from the North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust which is also looking for patient assessors at Stamford and Rutland Hospital and Hinchingbrooke Hospital.

A trust spokesperson said: “The hospital environment plays an important role in patient wellbeing, recovery and overall experience.

"The feedback and observations provided by Patient Assessors will directly influence improvements across our hospitals, helping to ensure that the patient perspective remains at the heart of decision-making.

"The trust is keen to hear from people with a variety of experiences, including patients, carers, relatives, friends and family members, patient advocates and members of the local community.

"No specialist knowledge is required, just a willingness to share your views and help us improve.”

Patient-led assessments of the care environment take place at Peterborough City Hospital on October 8, 22 and 29; at Stamford and Rutland Hospital on October 15 and at Hinchingbrooke Hospital on October 5, 12, 19 and 30.

A complimentary meal will be provided on the day for our Patient Assessors.

The annual assessments are coordinated by the Estates and Facilities Team with the results published nationally to support transparency and continuous improvement across the NHS.
