Volunteers needed for Great Eastern Run half marathon in Peterborough
Volunteers are needed to help the Great Eastern Run half marathon run smoothly.
The AEPG Great Eastern Run is one of the biggest events in city every year, with thousands taking part in both the half marathon and the Anna’s Hope 5km Fun Run.
This year, the event will take place on Sunday, October 11, with the race starting and finishing on Bishop’s Road, outside Peterborough Lido.
Now organisers have put out a plea for volunteers to come forward to ensure the runners can complete the course safely.

The organisers have a range of volunteer roles available, including:
Route Marshals – cheer on runners, provide encouragement and help keep the route safe
Start & Finish Team – support runners as they begin and complete their challenge
Race Village & Registration – help with runner enquiries, race packs and the event village
Water Station Teams – keep runners hydrated and motivated around the course
Event setup & Goody Bag Packing - assisting with setting up / packing down the event, and helping to pack the thousands of race goody bags!
General Event Support – help deliver a fantastic experience for everyone taking part
A spokesperson for the organisers said: “No previous experience is needed – just enthusiasm, a friendly smile and a willingness to get involved!
“Join hundreds of other volunteers and be part of the Great Eastern Run experience.”
Spaces are also still available to take part in the runs themselves.
