Trees to be felled in Peterborough wood due to disease

Tree felling works are taking place in a Peterborough wood in a bid to combat a disease.

Essential tree felling works are starting today (August 26) in Grimeshaw Woods in Bretton and will continue into September.

A spokespersn for Peterborough City Council said: “The work will focus on removing high risk trees infected with ash dieback.

“During these works, there will be an increased safety risk to members of the public within the areas shaded purple on the map below, due to the use of specialised arboricultural machinery and equipment.

“As a result, there will be intermittent footpath closures within the woodland to enable the safe removal of trees and timber from the site. Every effort will be made to minimise disruption, and access will be reinstated as soon as it is safe to do so.”
