Time to nominate a "community hero" for this year's Pride in Fenland Awards
Fenland residents are being urged to nominate their local community heroes for a pride award this summer.
Fenland District Council wants the names of people who make a real difference in the area for the Pride in Fenland Awards 2026.
“We want to hear about people who make an impact through being community-minded, kind, selfless, brave or overcoming adversity,” a council spokesperson said. “It could be someone who has done an incredible one-off deed or a lifelong volunteer who serves selflessly.
“In most cases, awards are for community champions whose efforts benefit an organisation, community, village or town, but in some cases the impact may be more specific such as a courageous young carer.”

This will be the 18th Pride in Fenland event, with the last being held in June 2025.
Cllr Susan Wallwork, Fenland District Council’s portfolio holder with responsibility for the Pride in Fenland Awards, added: “These awards are an annual highlight. They’re all about what is good in the world and in Fenland and every year they show us how abundant that goodness is.
“We have a community full of selfless, caring people, and, at this event, thanks to the nominations we receive, we hear about some of those wonderful people. If you know someone deserving of recognition, please make a nomination to let us know about them.”
Nominations must be with the council by 9am on Monday, June 1. Nominate online via www.fenland.gov.uk/prideinfenland. Printed nomination forms are available on request by calling 01354 654321.
The winners will be revealed in an invitation-only ceremony at Wisbech St Mary Sports and Community Centre on Wednesday, July 1.
