‘Talks have continued’: Forever Panthers issue update on potential new home and return of speedway to Peterborough
Panthers were forced to leave the East of England Showground at the end of the 2023 season
Forever Panthers say they have had “extremely positive and productive” talks about speedway returning to the city.
Peterborough Panthers were forced to leave their East of England Showground base on October 7, 2023, due to ongoing redevelopment plans.
Since then the club has not competed in the British Speedway League, with the search for a new, permanent home ongoing.

Now, nearly three years after its eviction from the Showground, hopes remain that Panthers can return to a new site in the city.
In a statement Forever Panthers Limited said: “Talks have continued with various parties about returning Speedway to Peterborough, some have been extremely positive and productive, others not so, but all talks have to be treated sensitively and with respect and for this reason we are not able to divulge everything that we have been doing, including the positive, as we would certainly like to. “Suffice to say, we can assure all supporters that the consortium remains extremely active. Our objective remains the same, to return Speedway to the City of Peterborough. “As some councillors and land promoters have learned and in some instances to their detriment, we are not going away, we are in this for as long as it takes to complete our objective and ensure that national and local policies which protect sporting facilities are applied to Peterborough Speedway at the East of England Showground. “Your support has been invaluable, you will probably never know or realise the big part you have played throughout this process. “For the time being racing will be on away tracks. We will continue with our Campaign and will report on developments as soon as we can.” The group is calling on members of the public to continue showing their support and to keep the club’s name alive. Plans for 1,500 homes and leisure village development on the East of England Showground site were rejected last October, boosting hopes for a potential return for Panthers.
