Shop deals signal arrival of new retailers in Peterborough
A flurry of new property deals are paving the way for new retailers to move into Peterborough.
Commercial agents Savills have confirmed the lease of 48 Bridge Street to gourmet doner kebab restaurant operator German Doner Kebab.
The new owners of the 2,755 sq ft premises are already recruiting for staff to work in the new outlet.
The property was leased on behalf of Milton (Peterborough) Estates Company.
In addition, Savills has overseen the sale of 12 Cowgate, the former stationery store Colemans, by owners Central Office Equipment to Axem Holdings, of Newcastle.
Edward Gee, associate director in the business space agency team at Savills Peterborough, said the vacant property is now being marketed to potential occupiers.
Savills has also advised on the sale of 40-42 Westgate, which has been bought by Virdee Real Estate.
Mr Gee said the space, which totals 2,566 sq ft, is set to operate as a beauty salon.
He added: “Despite the ongoing uncertainty caused by Covid-19 we have seen a recent flurry of retail activity within Peterborough city centre.
“All three units are located within close proximity to Queensgate Shopping Centre and will benefit from the footfall generated by the surrounding retail and leisure offer, which continues to improve day-by-day.
“The fact we are seeing investors purchase vacant units and retailers still taking space proves that confidence remains in the local market.”
