Semi-detached house in Peterborough to become care home for one child
Plans have been approved for a house in Peterborough to be converted into a care home.
Mr Gurmakh Jheeta of Rivan Residential Care Ltd applied to Peterborough City Council in August to change the use of the semi-detached property at 19 Queens Gardens.
The three-bedroom house can now lawfully be used as a solo placement children’s home.
Planning documents stated: “The proposal involves the continued residential occupation of an existing dwellinghouse by a maximum of one child living within a domestic, family-style environment.

“The child will occupy the property as their principal home and will undertake normal residential activities including sleeping, eating, education, recreation, household routines and participation within the wider community.”
Documents also noted that care staff would provide supervision, safeguarding and support in accordance with the child’s assessed needs.
The applicant assured that no extensions, external alterations, signage, commercial activity, or institutional features would take place and the property would retain its residential appearance.
“Movement to and from the property will be limited and consistent with that normally associated with a residential dwellinghouse,” the plans added.
The care home would be subject to the requirements of the relevant regulatory framework, including oversight by Ofsted.
City council planners deemed the change of use to be lawful on August 25.
