Rutland Farm Park closing: Sadness as popular Rutland tourist attraction confirms closure after 45 years
The attraction will close on Sunday, April 12
A popular Rutland tourist attraction is set to close later this month after 45 years.
Rutland Farm Park, in Oakham, will close for good on Sunday, April 12, ahead of its owners retirement.
In an emotional goodbye message posted on Facebook, the farm’s owners, Julie and Clive Ball said: “We understand this news may come as a shock and will be deeply felt by many. Over the past 10 years since reopening our gates, it has been a true privilege to welcome you all.

“The Ball family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our incredible staff, volunteers, students, visitors, our vets, and the wider community for your continued support - especially throughout the challenges of the COVID lockdowns.”
The farm opened in 1981 before closing in 2001, later reopening to the public in 2017.
A 35-minute drive from Peterborough, the farm is popular for school trips and other educational visits.
Animals on the farm include alpacas, sheep, rabbits and guinea pigs.

Hundreds of well-wishers have expressed their sadness at news of the farm’s closure.
One visitor said: “Oh no, I'm so sorry I'm reading this. We absolutely love our visits to the farm. I've got my first grandson due soon and was looking forward to visiting with him.
“Wishing you all the very best in your retirement and thanks for the beautiful memories.”
The farm will remain open as usual over Easter, before closing at 5pm on April 12.
