Retailer Mountain Warehouse set to close in Peterborough's shopping centre
A prominent retailer in Peterborough city centre is set to close its doors for good.
Outdoor clothing and goods retailer Mountain Warehouse, based in Bridge Street, is set to shut permanently on May 31.
Signs have gone up in the store windows informing customers that the store is ‘Closing Down’ and that everything ‘must go’.
A representative confirmed the outlet would be closing permanently on May 31.

It is not known how many staff work in the store although it is understood to employ quite a few colleagues.
The closure news comes despite the national retailer reporting recently that revenue from sales had risen to £449.2 million for the year ending February 2025 – up 16.4 per cent.
But the retailer is also known to be opening a number of larger stores that can stock a wider range of products while closing a number of its smaller stores.
Mountain Warehouse also has an outlet in the Serpentine Green Shopping Centre in Hampton.

The closure of its Bridge Street store will leave another empty unit in the retail heart of the city.
However, the four storey building has just been sold to a developer by Peterborough City Council and is expected to be demolished.
It is expected to be replaced by a new two storey structure with shops on the ground floor and accommodation above while the surrounding area will be landscaped.
