Police warn motorists to 'drive to the conditions of the road' as autumn kicks in
Darker nights and inclement weather can be hazardous for drivers
Police are warning motorists to take extra care behind the wheel as we head into autumn.
The plea has been made following a spate of collisions which response officers attended in the city over the Bank Holiday weekend.
“In the early hours of Monday morning, we were called with reports that a car had crashed into a wall in Star Road, Eastgate,” a police spokesperson said on social media.

"Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and no arrests have been made.”
Officers believe the incremental seasonal change from the dry weather and light evenings of summer to the less clement weather conditions which characterise the gradual approach towards winter may have been a factor.
“As we head into the darker nights and the rain makes a comeback, it is important to stay safe and drive to the conditions of the road,” they said. Advice about driving safely in autumn is available from the AA.
