Plans for dog boarding kennel near Peterborough school
A planning application has been granted for a new dog boarding kennel in Peterborough.
Applicant, Dainius Spulginas, submitted the plans to Peterborough City Council back in June.
Following the approval of the application in August, the kennel can now be built in the back garden of 61 Park Lane, near to Nene Gate School, and will accommodate up to six dogs.
Mr Spulginas intends to run the kennel as a small one-person business.

According to the plans, the kennel will not be noticeable or significantly visible to the public due to the location of the house and boundary screening.
The local highway authority objected to Mr Spulginas’ plans due to the adequacy of parking, but the council case officer Sophie Hutchinson said she was satisfied that approximately three vehicles could be reasonably accommodated.
Ms Hutchinson’s report stated: “This is a small-scale boarding facility limited to six dogs and does not represent a large commercial kennel operation.
“Vehicle activity would principally comprise occasional pre-arranged drop-offs and collections rather than continuous customer visits throughout the day.”
In terms of potential impact on neighbours, Ms Hutchinson added: “Unlike many residential kennel proposals, the site is not closely surrounded by neighbouring residential gardens.
“The application site benefits from open grassland immediately to the north, Nene Gate School and associated grounds to the east and roads to the south and west.
“Consequently, the proposed kennel building benefits from a degree of separation from neighbouring residential properties which officers consider to be a significant material consideration in this case.”
Explaining the decision to grant the application, the report stated: “On balance, officers conclude that the proposal accords with the Development Plan when read as a whole and that there are no material considerations which indicate that planning permission should be refused.”
