Peterborough’s new Old Station Quarter hub seeks permission to sell alcohol

A brand new multi-use community, social and work hub that has just opened in Peterborough’s old railway station has applied for a licence to sell alcohol.

The Old Station Quarter has revitalised Peterborough’s historic station building in Unex House at Viersen Platz on Bourges Boulevard, bringing together fitness, recovery, grooming, creativity and social spaces under one roof.

Along with fitness studios, co-working spaces and a recovery suite, the stylish new 8,000 sq/ft venue hosts a boxing gym, tattoo parlour and barbershop.

Elsewhere, The Old Station Quarter also boasts a cafe and bar, hence the application for a premises licence which was submitted to Peterborough City Council on May 27, 2026.

The venue has applied for permission to sell alcohol on the premises from noon until 3am, Monday to Sunday, at “a small licensed bar sited within [the] historic building [and]... includes the outside area.”

The application states that “All drinks shall be served in plastic/paper/toughened glass or polycarbonate containers.”

In addition, the owners have also applied for permission to host live music acts between noon and midnight, Monday to Sunday, indoors and outside, although there will be “No outdoor music after 11pm.”

The application also seeks permission to play recorded music from noon until 3am, Monday to Saturday, indoors and out although, once again, no music will be played outdoors after 11pm.

The hub – which will operate general opening times of 8am to 3am – will contain a large area of independent working space as well as hosting a variety of social activities and events.

While people will require a social membership to enjoy some aspects of the hub, anyone will be able to come along and use the bar in the evenings, regardless of whether or not they are a member.

The application can be viewed on Peterborough City Council’s licensing portal using reference 135685.
