Peterborough's Key Theatre officially reopens after almost a year following RAAC issues
Peterborough’s Key Theatre has officially reopened after almost a year after reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) was found in its roof.
RAAC was discovered in the roof of the building on the Embankment in September 2023.
Temporary works took place quickly to allow the theatre to remain open for the rest of the year but the building work on a full modern roof replacement began in May.
The Studio continued to host shows the and The Chalkboard tea room and bistro remained open to customers but the main auditorium has sat idle since June last year.

The works were expected to last around four months but early delays, brought about by the complexity of the works, saw it remain shut over the Christmas period and the panto moved to the city centre New Theatre, which is also operated by Landmark Theatres.
A small number of unforeseen snagging issues resulted in the reopening date pushed back to end of May, rather than the beginning- but on Friday (May 22) the building finally reopened fully.
The total cost of the repair works was £2.2million.
The first show set to take place at the reopened auditorium is Images Ballet Company Presents: Swan Lake Act II and Other Works on Friday evening.
