Peterborough United Foundation donates over 100 meals to city foodbank this Christmas

Players from Peterborough United’s Foundation’s Football and Education Programme have donated to the Peterborough Foodbank ahead of Christmas.

On Tuesday (December 16), players visited for foodbank for a second consecutive year to drop off the donation.

They went one better than last year by donating 45kg of food, which equates to 105 meals. This included several items which the Foodbank were low in stock: Instant Mash, Long Life Fruit Juice, Tinned Rice Pudding & Tinned Fish.

Posh Foundation’s Boys FEP Captain, Archie, said: “Donating to the food bank is always a nice opportunity to give back to the community. The club helps provide support to the people that need it most through these donations. We feel that at Christmas it is even more important to donate, as it is a time for giving and helping out other people.”

Peterborough United Foundation’s Media and Marketing Associate, Tom Lea, said: “We were all proud of the efforts of our players last year and it was nice to see this years’ cohort follow suit. It’s a difficult time of year for so many people and our players’ donation will make a positive difference to the lives of lots of local people and families. It’s a goal of ours to help our players develop into good people, as well as good footballers, and I think it’s safe to say we have lots of good people on our programme.”
