Peterborough trends on Twitter after McDonald’s re-opens six city drive-thrus... and none in Birmingham, Manchester or Liverpool

Peterborough has been trending on Twitter today after McDonald’s announced it was re-opening six drive-thrus in the city.

Fans of the fast food chain reacted with frustration after seeing that among 39 drive-thrus which were re-opening today, a large number were in Peterborough.

Peterborough was the fourth highest trending topic in the UK on the social media website this lunchtime due to the McDonald’s announcement.

McDonald’s has opened its drive-thrus at Bourges Boulevard, Boongate, Hampton, Morrisons, Glinton and Eye Green from 11am to 10pm.

Spending is capped at £25.

The brand is only opening drive-thrus in the South East of England and Dublin as part of a trial. It hopes to re-open all drive-thrus by early June.
