McDonald’s re-opens Peterborough drive-thrus

Six McDonald’s branches in Peterborough are set to re-open for drive thru customers today.

The fast food giant is re-opening a number of its branches across the country today, including at Bourges, Boulevard, Boongate, Hampton, Lincoln Road, Glinton and Eye Green.

A spokesman for the chain said they would be working with the council and police to keep people safe. He said : “We expect high demand across all locations. We are working with local authorities and we may determine that it is necessary to close our Drive Thru lanes is queues cause disruption or put our employees or customers at risk.”

The drive-thrus will be open from 11am-10pm.

There will be a capped spend at £25 per car and customers are encouraged to pay by contactless payment methods wherever possible.

 Perspex screens will be installed at Drive Thru windows and employees will wear protective equipment, and there will also be Perspex screens and floor markings in specific areas in the restaurant and kitchen.

All McDonald’s employees will be asked to confirm they are fit and able to work, and contactless thermometers will be used to take employee temperatures upon arrival at work for every shift.

 Social distancing has been introduced in the kitchens and service areas to help create a safe working environment for restaurant teams.
