A celebration later in the year for the city’s LGBTQIA+ community remains a possibility, but for now efforts are being focused on Pride 2021.

Peterborough Pride organiser Simon Green said: “ Sadly we have come to the difficult but unavoidable decision to cancel this year’s festival (June 29-July 12).

“All our efforts will now be focused on Peterborough Pride 2021 and creating something truly special. We haven’t ruled out a winter Pride celebration later this year, however due to the ongoing uncertainty and reduced planning time, supporting Pride events over the summer months or organising a virtual or online Pride, is not something we can commit to.

“We’re aware this will be disappointing news for many, but please be assured we will bounce back! Love and respect will continue to be our message - appreciating those around us, our family, friends and community is what it’s all about. For now, please bear with us whilst we regroup and develop new plans.”
