Peterborough firefighters rescue deer caught in front bumper of car

We’ve all heard about firefighters having to rescue cats stuck up trees – but a Peterborough crew were called to a different kind of rescue when an animal got stuck in a car bumper.

Last week, after a sudden dash across the road, a deer became caught in the front bumper of a car. Thankfully, a crew from Stanground Fire Station arrived quickly and carefully freed the deer using specialist equipment. It was unharmed and bounded off into a nearby field. A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Deer and other animals are more active at dawn and dusk, so please take extra care when driving in rural areas—slowing down can make all the difference.”
