Peterborough company chosen by Government to display innovative technology at international expo
A Peterborough company behind authentication technology to replace passwords for electronic devices was chosen by the Government to display its innovation at a national exhibition.
Shayype Solutions has patented a new ‘all on one screen’ system that could substitute for passwords, two-step verification codes and multi factor authentication in a move that could revolutionise online security.
Its pioneering authentication technology is designed to give users one-time codes that could be used to securely open something like a digital ID app.
Now the company, based at the Allia Future Business Centre, London Road, has been selected by the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology to showcase its technology at the International Cyber Expo 2025 event at London’s Olympia.

Founder Jonathan Craymer said: “The only real ‘protection’ when turning on a phone is normally a PIN or a biometric, typically facial recognition.
"However, on some phones this can be ‘fooled’ by showing them photos of the owner.
“Then to securely open an app – such as a digital ID card - something like a password is required, but it’s common knowledge that fixed passwords have major security issues.
"What’s clearly needed is a ‘better password’ and here our Shayype one-time code system could be ideal.

He added: “The fact that DSIT has had the vision to choose us to showcase this new technology, speaks volumes about the Government’s enthusiasm for strategic innovation, and its desire to tackle the problem of digital identity which continues to blight both the digital and real worlds."
Fellow director John Bullard said: “Shayype represents a breakthrough in authentication technology, poised to fundamentally re-model the global cyber landscape - making digital spaces safer, more accessible and resilient for everyone.
"I believe this new ingredient technology, underpinned by our long-established bedrock of common law, could help make the UK a forerunner of much-needed digital trust, in the same way Greenwich became the centre for global navigation.”
North West Cambridgeshire MP Sam Carling, whose constituency covers the part of Peterborough where Shayype is based, said: "It’s fantastic to see Shayype recognised on the national stage for developing such forward-thinking technology.
"Cybersecurity isn’t just a technical issue - it underpins trust in our economy and the safety of people’s everyday lives.
“When I first met Shayype, it was clear that they’re bringing forward exactly the kind of innovation we need to see more of: solutions built here in the UK that can make a real difference globally, and bring investment from around the world right here to benefit North West Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
"I’m looking forward to continuing to support them to grow and contribute to both our local and national economies."
