Outrage as resident takes it upon themselves to erect unauthorised 'no ball games' signs on Peterborough field
Residents in Peterborough were left outraged to find that unauthorised signs telling children that no ball games allowed were installed on public open space.
On Monday (July 13), residents in Hempsted were left shocked to walk the field behind Trelowen Way- a popular spot for walks and for children to play- to see that signs stating ‘no ball games’ has been installed.
A number people told the Peterborough Telegraph that they saw a fellow resident attempting to use cement to put the signs in place.
Hargate and Hempsted ward councillor John Howard has confirmed that he he has been in touch with the company which manages the open space on behalf of landowners O&H and they have not consented for the signs to be put in place.

In response, angry residents have been out to remove the signs and told their children to continue to play on the fields.
Marcus Holland, who went out to remove the signs said: “Lots of local children in area use that space for a place to play, which helps to keep them out of trouble.
"They love the area and have a big plastic goalpost that they drag onto the pitch everyday to use.
"I was happy to make sure that our children have a safe area to play. It was great to see the children back on the field playing and with the signs removed!”
