New "vibrant" and "characterful" food and drink venue set to open in Peterborough Cathedral
A new dining venue serving food and drink in a “vibrant and inclusive” space is set to open in Peterborough this month.
CATH, founded by the team behind The Cheesy Pig, has been announced as Peterborough Cathedral’s new food and beverage partner.
From oat-milk lattes to fancy cocktails, CATH will offer quality food and drink from its newly-designed dining space in the historic Beckets Chapel.
The venue, scheduled to open to guests in mid-April, will also deliver catering services for Cathedral events and external occasions.

A spokesperson for the cathedral said: “Established in 2020, The Cheesy Pig quickly earned a loyal following for its imaginative approach to comfort food, combining quality ingredients with a distinctive sense of fun. Its success has been evident across a wide range of settings, from corporate events and weddings to festivals, pubs, markets, and hotels. Building on this strong foundation, CATH represents an exciting new venture, bringing the same proven appeal and high standards to its permanent home within the Precincts.
“Guests can look forward to a carefully-curated offering, from expertly-crafted coffee and freshly baked cakes to more substantial dishes, all served within a welcoming and characterful setting.”
CATH owners, Sam Smith and Chris Coley, said: “We are truly delighted to be opening in such a prestigious and historic setting, and to have the opportunity to contribute something special to Peterborough. Our ambition is to create a vibrant yet inclusive space, where individuals, families, and friends alike feel equally at home. With exceptional food and drink at the heart of our offering, from a perfectly prepared oat milk latte to a carefully crafted cocktail, we hope to bring an experience that resonates with the city and its visitors.”
Jack Pishhorn, Chief Operating Officer at Peterborough Cathedral, added: “This partnership represents an important and exciting step forward for the Cathedral. In welcoming CATH, we are embracing a fresh and contemporary approach to hospitality, one that complements our heritage while inviting new audiences to engage with this remarkable place. The team’s proven creativity and dedication to quality give us every confidence that they will deliver a truly distinctive experience.

“This collaboration comes at a particularly dynamic moment for the Cathedral. With the forthcoming launch of our major Titanosaur exhibition, alongside the completion of an ambitious new lighting project, there is a palpable sense of momentum. Together, these developments signal a confident and inspiring chapter ahead.”
