More multi-storey car parks could be answer to Peterborough's parking dilemma
More multi-storey car parks could be built across Peterborough under new plans to reshape parking across the city.
The move comes amid growing concern that while Peterborough seems to have a plentiful supply of car parking it is not necessarily in the right locations.
Now Peterborough City Council has given the green light for a city-wide car parking strategy to be carried out over the next year.
Along with proposals for the construction of more multi-storey car parks across the city, the strategy will also look at areas of land that can be sold for redevelopment.

Councillor Angus Ellis, cabinet member for transport at Peterborough City Council, said: "We have been told by several businesses and other stakeholders that although there is a lot of parking in the city centre, it is not always in the best place, with some car parks being much busier than others.
"It may also be possible to release land for re-development by reorganising car parking and perhaps creating more multi-storey car parks, in appropriate locations.
"We are looking into the development of this strategy at the moment and anticipate it will be completed in 2027.
"The strategy will be city wide and not just focusing on the city centre.
"Many residents work, live, shop and use leisure and other amenities outside of the city centre also.
"We need to make sure that there is appropriate parking in all areas taking into account environmental impacts and the local communities."
