Last chance to see the Peterborough Cathedral Lego exhibition that 20,000 people have already visited

Time is running out to catch the unmissable Lego exhibition at Peterborough Cathedral.

So far more than 20,000 people have already seen the Travelling Bricks exhibition since it opened earlier this summer.

However, it will close for the final time in Peterborough on Sunday (August 29), meaning people have just a few days left to see the stunning display of intricate models.

Organisers say the real success story goes beyond visitor numbers, with the exhibition helping to drive people into Peterborough city centre from near and far and encouraging them to discover more of the city.

Visitors have been combining their trip to Travelling Bricks with meals and drinks in the city centre, visits to attractions including Railworld and the Museum, trips to the Lido and days out at Nene Park and other destinations.

The success has been supported by a growing network of local organisations and businesses working together to promote Peterborough as a destination.

Peterborough Cathedral has worked closely with Peterborough Positive, Peterborough City Council and Discover Peterborough, alongside local businesses and attractions including Wildwood, Prezzo, Kathmandu Lounge, The Bull Hotel, Odeon Cinemas, Nene Park and Lakeside Kitchen & Bar.

Paul Stainton, Director of Marketing and Communications at Peterborough Cathedral, said: “20,000 visitors is a fantastic milestone, but for me the really exciting thing is what sits behind that number.

“These aren't simply 20,000 people who have walked through the doors of the Cathedral. They are 20,000 people who have come into Peterborough. They have played in the brick pit, built towers with their grandparents, enjoyed the soft play and marvelled at the Titanosaur – but many have also gone on to eat in our restaurants, visit our attractions, explore our parks and discover parts of the city they may not have experienced before.

“I genuinely believe collaboration has never been this good in Peterborough. Peterborough Positive, the City Council, Discover Peterborough, our local businesses, attractions and partners have all played their part. Everyone has brought something to the table and, importantly, there has been a willingness to ask: ‘How can we make this work for Peterborough?’

When we give people a reason to visit and then give them lots of reasons to stay, explore, eat, shop and discover, everybody benefits. The Cathedral benefits, businesses benefit, attractions benefit, and ultimately Peterborough benefits.”
