Large-scale employer looks to have set its sights on Peterborough
The identity of the company has not been revealed but it is thought to have been in talks with city agencies for some time.
It is thought an agreement could be secured in a matter of weeks and could bring a ‘large-scale’ employment boost to the city.

American spice giant McCormick announced last year it was setting up a manufacturing hub at Peterborough Gateway at Alwalton Hill creating about 300 jobs.
Other new arrivals include food supplier AM Fresh also at Peterborough Gateway, which is taking on about 120 staff and fashion and homewares retailer Urban Outfitters, again at Peterborough Gateway.
And fashion and homewares retailer URBN has confirmed it is to create 200 plus jobs as it moves its European distribution operation to Peterborough.

Peterborough MP Paul Bristow said: “I am not surprised so many companies are looking to move to Peterborough.
“The city’s economy is very strong with good connections to the rest of the country and an excellent workforce.
“We are seeing companies are agreeing with me and voting with their feet and moving to Peterborough.”

Hide AdTom Hennessy, chief executive for Opportunity Peterborough said: “Peterborough has huge pulling power for large-scale employers because of its location, digital and physical connectivity, skilled workforce, and comparatively affordable operating costs.
“The city has an extremely diverse economy which means businesses can access staff with a broad range of skillsets.
“The significant public and private sector investments like the ones through the Towns Fund, at the university and its research centres, plus the government hub at Fletton Quays, will all help give businesses a lot of confidence about the city’s long-term prosperity.”
