Every day, Peterborough residents say their final farewells to family members, friends, colleagues, neighbours and many other characters who have played a unique part in local life.
Some may be more well known than others, but all had a place in someone’s heart and in our communities.
Here we make space to recognise those whose deaths and tributes were included in the pages of the Peterborough Telegraph on Thursday, September 3 and Thursday, September 10.
They include a ‘soulmate’ husband and popular Helpston Tennis Club and Burghley Golf Club member.

John Mason
John Mason, (formerly of Elton), passed away peacefully at home on 22nd August 2026, aged 87 years.
Husband and soulmate of Sue and much-loved dad of Clare, Lucy and Jenny, and cherished Papa and Grandpa Pops to his eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. Funeral service to take place on Friday 18th September at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Church, Orton Goldhay, followed by private burial.

Jessie Hurst
Jessie Winifred Hurst passed away peacefully at Sue Ryder Hospice on 15th August, aged 86 years.
Beloved wife to John, mum to Jackie, Wayne and Tracey and nan. The funeral service will be held at Peterborough Crematorium on Thursday 10th September at 12 noon.

Judith Mary Holt (Judy) passed away at Peterborough City Hospital on 9th August 2026, aged 84 years.
Loving wife of Peter Holt. Resident of Helpston since 1962. Member of Helpston Tennis Club and Burghley Golf Club.
Member of Helpston Church Choir. Funeral to take place at Helpston Church on Monday 9th September at 1.00pm.

Mark Robert Hitchborn passed away at home on 10th August 2026, aged 67 years.
Beloved husband of Liz. Loving father of Laura and Sophie. Dear stepfather, grandfather, great grandfather and brother-in-law who will be sadly missed.

Trevor John Davies peacefully passed away on 20th August 2026, aged 87 years.

Joan Carter
Joan Carter, aged 90, of Peterborough, passed away on 10th August 2026.
Survived by her daughter Sarah, son-in-law Sav, and grandchildren Bianca and Orlando.
A private funeral service was held on 1st September at Peterborough Crematorium. The family appreciates your love and support during this time.

Rosemary White
Rosemary Elizabeth White, of Desborough, passed away peacefully on Friday 14th August 2026, aged 94 years.
Beloved Wife of the late Phil, dearly loved Mum to Gillian and Sharon, Mother in law to Robert and the late Angus, dear Nan to all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Rosemary's funeral will take place on Monday 21st September, 10:30am at the Albert Munn Chapel, Kettering Crematorium.

He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.
