The Sterling Choice, in Tesla Court, Innovation Way, Lynch Wood, which specialises in recruitment for the food and engineering industries, has unveiled a new online portal to support companies to search for alternative work for at-risk staff.

The move comes with the food industry still reeling from enforced Covid closures and restrictions that has left thousands of staff across the country left without jobs.

In Peterborough and the surrounding area, it is estimated there are about 20 food and engineering companies looking to recruit for about 60 vacancies.

Director Lukas Vanterpool, who founded the agency with Gareth Whyatt eight years ago, said: “We all recognise and acknowledge the immense challenges businesses have and continue to face during the pandemic, with many having no option but to make the tough decision to let valued, hard-working and committed staff go.

He said: “Feedback from the majority of businesses in this situation is a real desire to help their ‘good people’ find a new job as soon as possible.

“So, despite businesses having to take the tough decision to make redundancies, and face more uncertain times during this new lockdown, there are ways that employers can support employees in their future job search.”
