Rallying around, word soon got out and more than 100 engineers from across the region joined in to donate their lunch vouchers. The vouchers which are for use at Tesco are subsidised to £5 per day, and together the team collected a huge £1,300 worth of vouchers.

After contacting Tesco Serpentine Green, community champions Ejaz Moghul and Katie Rickett used the money to supply the food bank with seven trolleys of food. As well as food, wellbeing items were donated to NHS Cambridgeshire charity Head to Toe.

Troy was amazed at his team and other engineers for backing the causes. He said: “We saw on the news that the food banks were struggling and we wanted to put our vouchers to better use. We were never expecting to raise this much. These charities are doing such a good job at the minute and we wanted them to know they’ve not been forgotten about.”

The team of engineers helped from start to finish, as they helped to load the food to Peterborough Foodbank. More than 1,030kg of food that was given will create around 2,000 meals for the centre.
