Energy provider to create jobs after getting go ahead for new storage depot in Peterborough
A national energy provider is to create jobs in Peterborough after securing the green light to open a new storage depot.
Flogas Britain Ltd, which is a national supplier of Liquefied Petroleum Gas, has just been given the go ahead to operate from a site in Fengate.
Peterborough City Council planners have approved an for the installation of fencing, security gates, office/reception building, canteen/mess room, storage unit and forklift truck shelter on a site at Whitehead Road.
A spokesperson for Flogas Britain said the new depot was expected to create at least nine jobs.

The depot is earmarked for an existing hardstanding area at the eastern end of the Ocado warehouse.
Flogas is taking a lease on the site to relocate its current liquefied petroleum gas storage depot with land to be used for the storage of LPG cylinders of varying sizes and vehicles associated with the transport of cylinders to customers.
An officer’s report to planners states: “While the proposed installations are substantial structures, their scale, form and appearance are consistent with the established industrial character of the site, which is in an employment area.”
The council has also demanded that Flogas install wheel cleaning equipment to ensure that all vehicles leaving the site go on to the public highway free of any debris.
The Flogas spokesperson said: “The move will help improve operational resilience and maintain a strong level of service for customers across Peterborough and the surrounding off-grid communities.
"This will support the transfer of an existing team of nine employees to the new site, helping to protect local jobs and support the long-term future of the operation in the area.”
