Cresset Theatre pays tribute to 'one of the UK's finest and most loved footballers of all time' Kevin Keegan - and sends message to residents who had tickets to his show next year
The Cresset Theatre has paid tribute to English footballing icon Kevin Keegan – and has updated ticketholders who had been been due to see a show hosted by the legendary player.
Sadly, Kevin’s family announced his death on Monday (July 20) following his battle with cancer. He was just 75 years old.
Kevin had been due to take his tour ‘An Audience with Kevin Keegan’ to The Cresset Theatre in Bretton in March next year.
Following the announcement, a spokesperson for the theatre said their thoughts were first and foremost with Kevin’s loved ones, but updated those who had bought tickets for the event.

They said: “We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Kevin Keegan, one of the UK's finest and most loved footballers of all time. We will be contacting customers about refunds and alternatives to the planned event on 9th March 2027 as soon as possible, but in the meantime extend our condolences to Kevin's family, friends and former football colleagues.”
Kevin became a global superstar with Liverpool, Hamburg and Newcastle, and also as a player and a manager of the England national team – but he made his professional debut when he was aged just 17 with Scunthorpe United in a match at Peterborough United in September 1968 – a game won 3-2 by Posh in the old Fourth Division.
Posh director of football Barry Fry was one of many to pay tribute to Kevin, describing him as ‘A true legend on and off the pitch.’
