Clap for health heroes: Peterborough residents and emergency workers come together to show appreciation

Once again many people across the country last night (Thursday) put their hands together to show their appreciation for key workers who are putting themselves at risk during the coronavirus crisis.

And at 8pm they were joined by residents in Peterborough and emergency workers including staff at Cambridgeshire police and Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service. The emergency personnel gathered outside Hinchingbrooke Hospital (while keeping the required two metre gap between each other) to join in with the national applause.

The fire service said: “We took part in the nationwide applause to show our appreciation for our colleagues in the NHS, and all of the key workers across the country.”

This was the third week where people have clapped from their gardens and balconies at 8pm on the Thursday, with those taking part including the Royal Family.

Last week, Peterborough residents banged saucepans together, turned their houses blue and even played the bagpipes as their tribute to the key workers putting their health on the line to help others.
