Charitable foundation to give out over 10,000 free masks across Peterborough

The foundation has been active throughout lockdown, cooking and delivering thousands of meals to those in need.
Now though, they have begun the process of giving away thousands of masks after founder Zillur Hussain had them made by a contact in Turkey.

On Saturday (October 24) foundation members Zillur, Chavdar Zhelev and Ishy Hussain spent the day giving out the first batch along Lincoln Road.
Zillur, who also owns Moroccan-Turkish restaurant Tavan on Lincoln Road, said: “We’ve seen a lot of people without masks and they’ve told us theat they don’t like the cheap ones as they keep falling off or they can’t breathe very well with them, so we decided to give our own out to people.
“I bought some for my business and then asked for 10,000 extra to give out across Peterborough.

“This is something we are going to be doing for as long as necessary and I already have more on the way.”
