Alcohol licence applications set to be discussed at upcoming Peterborough City Council meeting

A Licensing Sub-committee meeting scheduled to take place on June 19 at Peterborough City Council will see two separate alcohol licensing applications deliberated by members.

The first of these will focus on David Cattermoul, who was issued with an alcohol personal licence on November 17, 2025.

A report to the committee said that on May 5, 2026 Cambridgeshire Constabulary requested a review of Mr Cattermoul’s alcohol personal licence as a result of him being convicted of driving a motor vehicle with excess alcohol at Cambridge Crown Court on August 25, 2025.

The report says that in addition, Mr Cattermoul was also convicted of dangerous driving and destroying or damaging property. As a result, he was disqualified from driving for 29 months and sentenced to 14 months in prison.

Notably, the report says that the court did not consider Mr Cattermoul’s alcohol personal licence at the time of sentencing

In the report, Cambridgeshire Constabulary said they have requested the Sub-committee review Mr Cattermoul’s alcohol personal licence, with a view to including “process for retrospective revocation.”

The second of the two items set to be discussed is an application for a new alcohol premises licence for International Store on Dogsthorpe Road in Peterborough.

The report to the committee says that the neighbourhood grocery store, which sits on the junction of Dogsthorpe Road, Huntly Grove and Green Lane, initially made the request to Peterborough City Council on May 7, 2026.

In its application for a premises licence, International Store requested permission to operate the sale of alcohol between the hours of 8am and 11pm, Monday to Sunday.

The application stated that “the premises shall not operate irresponsible alcohol promotions or deep-discount sales designed to encourage excessive purchasing,” seemingly in a bid to head off any potential alcohol-related nuisance issues.

Peterborough City Council’s Licensing Sub-committee meeting is set to take place at 1.30pm on Friday, June 19 at Sand Martin House.
