100 vacancies up for grabs at Peterborough Jobs Fair with more employers urged to attend

More employers are being urged to take part in a Jobs Fair in Peterborough where 100 vacancies are already expected to be up for grabs.

The call comes from Job Fairs by The Bridge, which are organising the event that will take place at the Weston Homes Stadium in London Road.

The fair will be headlined by the supplier of ingredients for pastry, bakery, IRCA Manufacturing UK, based in Coningsby Road, Bretton.

The jobs fair will take place on October 16.

Organisers say they expect more than 100 jobs vacancies to be available at the event.

But a spokesperson said there was still time for employers to decide to take part in the event.

She said: “We do still have availability for Peterborough in October.”

The spokesperson said: “We usually see 15 to 20 companies at the Jobs Fair.”

New statistics show that Peterborough has one of the fastest growing jobs markets in the country.

According to the 2026 Cities Outlook report, Peterborough’s jobs market has grown by 23.9 per cent over the 10 years from 2014 to 2024.

This is the third highest jobs growth performance in the country.

However, a separate survey of the city's economy has painted a gloomy picture of the city economy recently.

According to the Cambridgeshire Chamber of Commerce’s quarterly economic survey for the first three months of the year revealed that employers in Peterborough are battling a ‘stagnant’ local economy with many struggling to grow sales and others unable to find skilled staff.

Charlotte Horobin, chief executive of Cambridgeshire Chamber of Commerce, said: “The latest data highlights a stagnating local economy, where persistent cost pressures, high taxation concerns and skills shortages are preventing businesses from investing and growing.

“While our findings reflect the national picture of weakening confidence, they also show that some challenges, particularly around tax and recruitment, are being felt more strongly by businesses in our region.

"Unlocking growth will require co-ordinated action to support employers, improve skills availability and restore confidence.”

The principal finding of the survey was that economic activity remains largely stagnant with confidence subdued and cost pressures - particularly taxation - weighing heavily on firms.
