A celebration was held at Jack Hunt School on Saturday, with people from across Peterborough, including politicians, police officers and religious leaders gathering to mark the occasion.

Abdul Choudhuri ,Chairman of Faizan e Madinah Mosque and President of the Pakistan Welfare Association Peterborough, welcomed the guests and said: “Sixty-nine years is not a long time in the history of nations but the progress the country has made is absolutely remarkable. A country where there was only one university at the time of independence which now has universities and colleges and educational institutions in almost every city is just one of the example.”
