Pumping stations returns to full operations after Peterborough homes previously left filled with raw sewage
Full working order has been restored at a Peterborough pumping station after residents were previously left with raw sewage in their homes.
In July, residents in Hampton Gardens and Hampton Water reported issues with toilets being blocked and overflowing with raw sewage.
Issues are believed to have begun due to issues with a jammed pump at pumping station on the site, which is owned and operated by O&H Land.
Since the first reports, O&H Land worked closely with Anglian Water and the neighbouring property developers to manage the issue, which included daily tanker visits to the site in order to relieve pressure on the water system. Temporary pumps were also installed and operated 24 hours a day with tankers remaining on standby to provide additional support when and if required.

At the end of July, the replacement pumps were installed and the pumping station has been monitored ever since.
It has now been confirmed that things have returned to full working order.
North West Cambridgeshire MP Sam Carling has now provided an update, he said: “I’m pleased to share an update following concerns raised by local residents in Hampton Gardens and Hampton Water earlier in the summer about the faulty pumping station and the unpleasant odours.
“The replacement pumps were installed and the works were completed at the end of July. Since then, the pumping station has been monitored over the past few weeks to ensure everything is working as it should.
“I’m pleased to confirm that no further issues or unusual odours have been reported, and the pumping station is now fully operational.
“The specialist contractor will continue to monitor the station remotely and attend if any alerts or issues are identified, but at this stage the matter has been fully resolved.
“Thank you to everyone who raised their concerns and kept me updated while the issue was being addressed. I’m glad we can now confirm that the necessary repairs have been completed.
“If you experience any further problems with the pumping station, please get in touch with me at [email protected], so I can raise them with the relevant parties.”
