A spokesperson said: “We were called at 4.11pm on Friday (14 August) to a report of a suspicious package at Peterborough City Hospital. Officers attended and found the item was in fact a medical device and no crimes were identified.”

A spokesperson for North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the hospital, said: “We evacuated the 100m cordon put in place by the police. This included our main atrium and the discharge lounge at the front of the hospital. The incident had no impact on patient activity.”
