Woman banned from every shop in town - except for one - after using threatening and abusive behaviour

A woman has been banned from every shop in Spalding except for one, Police have said.

Lincolnshire Police said Sarah McCourt, 44, of no fixed address, has been banned from entering any retail premises in Spalding, other than Heron Food Spalding.

The Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) was imposed after McCourt pleaded guilty to using threatening and abusive behaviour and to shop theft when she appeared at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on May 5.

Along with the CBO, McCourt was handed a rehabilitation activity requirement.

Sergeant Callum Corder of Spalding Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “We recognise the impact of repeat shop theft on retail staff and our wider community.

"Our strategic use of Criminal Behaviour Orders helps tackle persistent offending in the longer term, as the subsequent sentencing associated with breaches of these orders increases substantially.

"Our aim is to always to ensure offenders are offered rehabilitative support alongside community orders to help curb offending.

"However, any breach of these orders is treated with zero tolerance and we will take swift and firm action in response to any known breaches.”
