Prolific Peterborough thief stole hundreds of pounds worth of alcohol from city pub

A Peterborough man who stole hundreds of pounds worth of alcohol from a city centre pub has been given a suspended sentence.

William Thornton stole booze worth £240.52 from The College Arms in Broadway last month.

Peterborough Magistrates’ Court heard the theft took place on April 27.

Thornton (45) of Thorpe Road, Peterborough pleaded guilty to entering the premises as a trespasser and stealing the alcohol.

He was given a 16 week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months - with magistrates saying the sentence was required because of the number of nature of his previous convictions.

Thornton was also ordered to take part in a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement for 35 days, and pay compensation of £100, and costs of £105.
