Police appeal after open fire in Peterborough started deliberately

Police have appealed for information after an open fire in Peterborough was started deliberately yesterday (April 5).

A fire crew from Dogsthorpe were called to a commercial premises on Gladstone Street, Millfield at 2:25pm on Easter Monday to reports that a pile of rubbish had been set alight.

The crew put out the fire using a hose reel but discovered that the cause of it was deliberate and the Police are now appealing for information.

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 2.45pm on Monday (5) a crew from Dogsthorpe was called to a fire on Gladstone Street in Millfield, Peterborough.

“Firefighters arrived to find a fire at the rear of a commercial premises involving rubbish and extinguished it using a hose reel. They returned to their station by 3.30pm.

“The cause of the fire was deliberate.
