Peterborough Cathedral 'upset' following overnight break-in
Peterborough Cathedral’s on-site cafe has suffered a break-in overnight on Thursday (August 20).
CATH, which opened in April, is located in the grounds of Peterborough Cathedral and inside Beckets Chapel.
The cafe suffered a break0in overnight between Wednesday night and Thursday morning (August 19-20).
Those behind the break-in smashed a window and made away with what has been described as a ‘small amount of money’ but the cafe remains open on Thursday morning.

The cafe confirmed: “CATH was broken into overnight. Thankfully, the damage has been cleared up and only a small amount of money was taken.
"We’re open as normal, although you may see people coming and going from our middle room while we fix the broken window.
“As an independent business, things like this are so upsetting. CATH has taken an enormous amount of time, money, energy and heart to create.
"We work around the clock to keep it running, support our team and bring something new and exciting to Peterborough.
“It’s easy to complain that our town needs more independent businesses, more things to do and more investment but actually creating those things takes people willing to take the risk and put in the work.
"When things like this happen, though, it’s hard not to ask ourselves, why do we bother?
"We put so much into creating something for our town and moments like this can be incredibly disheartening.
“Incidents like this don’t just affect us. They affect our whole team and take valuable time and money away from improving CATH and keeping it going.
“We’ll fix it, we’ll carry on because that’s what independent businesses do.
“Thank you to everyone who continues to support us, shop local and choose independent. It genuinely means more than you know.”
