Former police detective based at Peterborough found guilty of gross misconduct over prison incident

A former detective based at Thorpe Wood Police Station in Peterborough has been ruled to have committed gross misconduct – after admitting to an incident involving a prison.

Following a hearing, Cambridgeshire Constabulary ruled former Police Detective Constable Zoe Rogers would have been dismissed from the force, had she not already left.

DC Rogers had previously accepted a conditional caution for the offence on 28 October.

In its report into the matter, the force explained: “On 28th October 2025 former DC Rogers accepted a Conditional Caution in relation to the offence of Aiding and Abetting the unauthorised possession of a device inside a prison, an offence which former DC Rogers admitted and took responsibility for.”

The investigation demonstrated that the former detective was in no way involved with any device entering a prison.

The ensuing report states former DC Rogers had accepted their conduct amounted to misconduct, “but not gross misconduct”.

But the report went on: “The Appropriate Authority sets out that these matters amount to gross misconduct and are so serious as to justify dismissal.”

It added that the offence involved “a fundamental breach of the public’s trust in police officers and inevitably brings the profession into disrepute”.

No details were given on the prison involved, or the device in question.

Former DC Rogers did not attend the hearing in person, but was represented by a a member of the Police Federation.

The report concluded that the former detective would now be “placed on the college of policing barred list”.
