Dozing drug dealer jailed after he was found asleep in Peterborough flat

A sleeping drug dealer who got a rude awakening by officers at a Peterborough property has been jailed for almost four years.

Cambridgeshire Police said that Ahmed Hassan, 26, was arrested after neighbourhood officers carried out a raid at a flat in Oxford Road, Millfield, Peterborough, just before 7am on 6 June last year.

Police said Hassan was asleep on a mattress in the living room alongside the flat’s tenant and fellow drug dealer Chloe Henson, 26.

A spokesperson for the force said officers found a ball of class A drugs in Hassan’s pocket, comprising 124 wraps of cocaine and 26 wraps of heroin.

Hassan, of Dogsthorpe Road, Dogsthorpe, Peterborough, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply cocaine and heroin, and was jailed for 47 months at Huntingdon Law Courts on Monday (10 August).

Police said Henson has admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine and heroin and possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and is due to appear at Huntingdon Law Courts on 28 August for sentencing.

PC Olly Holmes, from Peterborough’s Central Neighbourhood Policing Team, welcomed the sentence and said: “Following the warrant at the address, the team secured a partial closure order on the flat as part of our work to tackle drug dealing in the area.

“Drug use and associated criminality remain a priority for us, and I urge those with concerns to report them.”
