Biker dies after A16 crash in Peterborough - driver arrested

A man has died following a four-vehicle collision on the A16 at Newborough.

The collision, involving a Honda motorcycle, Peugeot Boxer, Vauxhall Insignia and a Fiat Punto, was reported to police today (Friday) at 5.58am.

Emergency services attended and the rider of the motorcycle - a man in his 50s from Peterborough - was pronounced dead at the scene, despite the best efforts of paramedics.

The Fiat Punto driver, a woman in her 20s, was taken to Peterborough City Hospital with minor injuries.

A third driver - a 28-year-old driver of the Peugeot Boxer from Peterborough - has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drink or drugs.

The road was closed to allow an investigation to take place. It re-opened at around 1.45pm.
