Anger as flag stolen from in front of Stamford Town Hall for the third consecutive year
Stamford Town Hall’s flagpole has been vandalised for a third consecutive year.
For the previous two years in June, a pride flag has been cut down from in front of the town hall.
This June, the Stamford Town Hall flag suffered the same fate.
On Tuesday evening (June 2), ropes were cut and the flag removed from the site.

CCTV captured the culprit, who was wearing a black backpack and white trainers and fled through St Mary's Passage at just after 10:45pm, and the incident has been reported to the police.
Town Clerk Sarah Dorson said: “We are greatly saddened that our Town Flag has been removed, especially as the Town Hall has experienced vandalism of the flagpole for three years in a row now, repairs of which are funded by taxpayer money. Following this incident, we will arrange for a replacement flag and rope, as well as the cost of the repairs, so we can allow this flag, and others, to fly again.
“We ask that anybody who has any information about the incident, which occurred late evening on June 2nd at around 10:45pm, to please call the police on 101 quoting ref number 61-03/06/2026.”
Mayor of Stamford Councillor Jane Kingman said: "I cannot understand why someone would do this, or what this person is trying to achieve by vandalising council property."
