Shoplifter jailed after threatening staff in Peterborough
A shoplifter has been jailed after he threatened staff with a drill bit at a Peterborough toy shop.
Police say that Stephen Foot (29) was confronted by staff at Smyths Toys, in Boongate, when he was caught stealing a toy truck.
A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire police said that Foot pulled out a pointed drill bit and threatened to stab them if they came near him before making off with the truck.
The spokesperson said that Foot was arrested less than 30 minutes later by the spree offender team in Dickens Street, Eastfield, Peterborough.
The incident happened on November 3.
Foot, of no fixed address, was charged with being in possession of a bladed article and three counts of theft from shop after he was found to have also stolen from H&M, in Queensgate, on October 23, and Home Bargains, in Bourges Boulevard, both in Peterborough, on November 1.
He was jailed for six months after admitting the offences at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on November 4..
