Police 'close' shop in Whittlesey following seizure of vapes and illicit cigarettes
A shop in Whittlesey has been ‘closed’ by police because of concerns about drug dealing.
Police say the action comes after vapes and illicit cigarettes were seized by officers when they raided the Green Shop, at 21 Whitmore Street, Whittlesey, on August 7.
In addition, a 22-year-old man was given a community resolution for being in possession of cannabis.
Following the raid, officers of the March Neighbourhood Policing Team applied for a three-month full closure order on the shop, which was granted at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on September 4.

A police spokesperson said: “The order states that the premises is closed to everyone except for the landlord and their authorised contractors, or members of the emergency services.”
PC Callum McGarvie said: “In addition to the warrant, we knew further action had to be taken in response to community reports of anti-social behaviour originating from the shop.”
Any breach of the order is a criminal offence leading to imprisonment, a fine, or both.
